About AET

The Autism Education Trust (AET) was launched in November 2007 with funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families. It is dedicated to co-ordinating and improving education support for all children on the autism spectrum in England.

It is estimated that one in 100 children is on the autism spectrum. Their education is the primary concern for most parents and carers. The Autism Education Trust aims to create a platform for voluntary, independent and statutory providers to plan and develop appropriate autism educationprovision across all education settings, including early years.

The AET Youth Council was set up to capture and share the views of young people on the autism spectrum and their siblings. They inform the work of the AET.  

The Steering group ensures that the work of the trust reflects the strategy agreed in consultation with the Advisory Council and other stakeholders and makes a real impact in pursuit of its vision and mission.

The Advisory Group  provides a breadth and depth of experience to inform the work of the AET, feedback to government, and be representative of groups of stakeholders in autism education.
