The First News My Way! campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the different ways children and young people like to learn and the importance of allowing them to learn in a way which is right for them. One in five school-aged children need extra help due to a learning difficulty which may include being on the autism spectrum. The AET is in full support of the campaign. My Way! would like to get children and young people’s views on their school, how they like to learn, and about their friendships. Take part in the survey for the chance to win £300 of vouchers.
The First News My Way! Campaign was launched at 10 Downing Street on 6th January by the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown and Henry Winkler, best known for his role as The Fonz in TV show Happy Days. AET Youth Council representatives Sam Travers and Helen Wood and Project Head Sarah-Jane Critchley attended the launch. Helen said;
“I had the most amazing time at Downing Street. It was great to chat with Ed Balls and Alan Johnson called me over to stand next to him at the photo call! I think the campaign will have a big impact because of the high level of support the government is prepared to commit to learning differences.”
