Pick up the latest AET resources at Nasen Live 2010
Stand B28, Reebok Stadium, Bolton, 26 and 27 May 2010
We are launching a new resource for teachers on Stand B28 at Nasen Live on 26 and 27 May 2010 at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton. The resource, called Tools for Teachers: Practical Resources for Classroom Success, brings together all the relevant information a teacher supporting a child or young person with autism might need. It offers an invaluable tool for teachers, support staff and other professionals working with pupils with autism. It features over 70 autism-specific tools and resources including feelings boards, playtime activity schedules and homework checklists, and aims to simplify some of the terminology surrounding autism.
This new resource follows the recent release of a shorter guide for teachers which is available to download now from the AET website. Entitled Do you have a child with autism in your class? the guide gives practical steps for working effectively with the child and offers teachers useful advice when planning strategies to understand and manage behaviour and plan effective learning. Sarah-Jane Critchley, Project Head of the Autism Education Trust, said, “As the AET enters its fourth year of funded projects, we are keen to reach more education workforce professionals with information and resources to better equip them to cope with the increasing number of children and young people diagnosed with autism. We look forward to meeting delegates at Nasen Live to distribute our new resources and showcase our expanding website.”
Delegates at the show will also be able to find out about the work of the AET, gather resources specifically tailored for SEN professionals working with children and young people on the autism spectrum, and watch films produced by members of the AET Youth Council – young people on the autism spectrum involved in the work and development of the AET.
