Every workplace is different. It might be big or small, have lots or employees or a very small team, be very noisy or quiet.
You will always have a manager that you report to. Your manager is responsible for your welfare so if you have any concerns or worries about work, you should talk to them.
There will also be regulations in place such as health & safety guidelines and procedures in case of a fire. You should be told all about these on your first day.
Your workplace will have facilities for taking a break, and may even have a small kitchen or area in which to prepare your lunch.
It’s always a good idea to investigate the kind of workplace a company has before accepting a job offer. You might want to think about the things that may cause you anxieties:
- Is there lots of noise?
- Are there lots of distractions?
- How big is the company?
- Is it easy for you to travel to?
REMEMBER… The first day in a new workplace can be scary for anyone, but it can also be the start of an exciting new phase in your life!
