This training has been designed to link to the AET schools competency framework, which describes the knowledge, understanding and skills that staff working in schools need to work effectively with pupils on the autism spectrum.

The training promotes positive attitudes to learning and focuses in securing learning goals that are meaningful to the pupil and which support positive life outcomes in the future.

The course covers 4 main themes:- The Individual Pupil (Understanding Autism, Meeting the needs of each individual pupil); Building Relationships (Partnership working, Inclusive practice); Curriculum and Learning (Delivering an effective curriculum, Good autism practice) and Enabling Environments (Emotional and communication environments, Physical and sensory environments).

This course gives participants opportunities to reflect on their skills and confidence in relation to one competence which has been covered in the training.
