AET schools leading good autism practice

The STARS Team is the NAS Accredited, Autism Outreach and Advisory Service for Leeds. We are commissioned by the Autism Education Trust to deliver AET training to schools and early years settings across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Description

One day course for school leaders: SENCOs; Key Stage Leaders; Heads of Year; Assistant Heads, Deputy Heads or Heads. This one day course looks at how school leaders can use whole school approaches to ensure children with autism achieve in their schools. This will include use of the Autism Education Trust Standards and Competency Frameworks.

Before coming on Tier 3 training please ensure you have completed ‘AET Tier 1 Making Sense of Autism: Raising Awareness’ training or equivalent. Tier 3 training is for staff who may train or lead other staff in their setting, focusing on developing good autism provision.

Outcomes

This course aims to…

  • Enhance delegates knowledge and understanding of good autism practice
  • Help delegates to question, evaluate and develop autism practice within their setting
  • Provide delegates with the tools to audit staff skills and identify training needs
  • Develop skills and knowledge to enable their organisations to meet/exceed the requirements of external reviewers such as Ofsted, and be compliant with legislative requirement
