The Making Sense of Autism training will giving you a better understanding and awareness of autism and the way it affects children in your setting.

Basic autism awareness training for all staff in all early years settings, whether or not they work directly with children with autism.

All participants will be able to:

  • Identify the four key areas of difference that need to be taken into account when working with children on the autism spectrum.
  • Know the importance of understanding the individual child on the autism spectrum and their profile of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identify the key areas to help children on the autism spectrum build positive relationships with staff and their peers.
  • Know that many children on the autism spectrum can be unusually sensitive to everyday sights, sounds, touch, tastes and smells. This can affect their learning and emotional state.

Please Note: Ticket charges apply to private nursery staff only.  This training is free for staff from Enfield schools and academies.  There are no charges to Enfield schools or academies, as EASA’s core training programme is funded by Enfield Council via the SEN Outreach Provision Budget and the High Needs Block funding.
