AET early years good autism practice

26th March 2020 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm GMT

“Any understanding of autism should not be approached from a position of deficit but rather than a position of difference…If we are serious about equality and inclusion then we must first understand that difference.”

Autism Education Trust (2015).

The STARS Team is the NAS Accredited, Autism Outreach and Advisory Service for Leeds. We are commissioned by the Autism Education Trust to deliver AET training to schools and early years settings across Yorkshire and Humberside.

This day course is suitable for staff who work with and / or support colleagues who work with children on the autism spectrum in both mainstream and specialist settings.

It develops theoretical understanding of autism whilst providing a wide range of practical strategies, systems and approaches that can be implemented and adapted to meet the needs of the individual child.

This course will:

    • Enable staff to develop a better understanding of good autism practice
    • Provide guidelines and practical strategies to help staff improve their own practice in working with pupils with autism.
  • Provide a range of evidence based, practical systems and approaches that can be used to improve outcomes for autistic students.
