At what age can I go to university?

At what age can I go to university?

Most young people do not go to a university until they have finished college or sixth form at school (year 13). In most cases this is at the age of 18.

It is possible to go to some universities at a younger age but you will need to satisfy them that you have the right entry qualifications and can demonstrate a mature approach to the study of your subject. This will include demonstrable skills such as:

  • Critical analysis.
  • Wide contextual knowledge.
  • The ability to manage your own time without a full daily timetable.

Lots of universities provide additional help for students on the autism spectrum. Search for ‘Student Services’ on the university’s website. [See also ‘What is a mentor?’]
