Our Most Downloaded Resource for Education Professionals

With the rollout of the new academic year, it’s perhaps no surprise that our most downloaded resource this month was our Schools Competency Framework.

This invaluable framework has already been downloaded by more than 240 education professionals this month alone!

Users can self-assess their practice, decide where they need to develop their skills, identify what to work on, and to consider their CPD needs.

Don’t miss out, download your copy of the Schools Competency Framework here:

Our Team’s Highlight of the Month

At the AET we have a committed and ever-growing team continuously working on a variety of autism-in-education content and projects.

We asked the Team what their September highlights have been, and our work with the Autistic Young Experts (AYE) Panel took the top spot!

Avatar images of each member of the Autistic Young Experts Panel. Names include: Annabel, Tilly, Alice, Grace, Saffron, Lily, Imogen, Abri, Olivia, Leon, Meg, Niraj, Jessica, Sam, Bella, Ollie, Georgia, Tom, Ryan.

Over the summer, we have had a series of meetings with the Panel to:

  • Create individual member avatars
  • Design a brand new AYE logo
  • And... to work on the filming and launch of a new brand new AYE YouTube channel!

The autistic voice at the heart of everything we do.

One Panel member, Jessica, featured as our guest blog and shared her experiences of meeting her fellow Panel members face to face for the first time.

You can read Jessica’s first ever blog: ‘What I Wish People Knew About Autism’ here:

What’s Coming Up Next Month

With the rollout of the new academic year, it’s no surprise that our most downloaded resource in September 2022 was our Schools Competency Framework, which more than 240 education professionals have downloaded!

This framework can be used by staff to self-assess their practice, decide where to develop their skills, identify what to work on, and consider their CPD needs.

What’s Coming Up Next Month?

We’re on the road again!

October 07–09 sees the 13th Autism-Europe International Congress taking place in Cracow, Poland.

The Autism Education Trust will be represented by Dr. Sarah Broadhurst, the AET Director, and Nora Gardiner, from our marketing team.

We will be sharing the Autism Education Trust vision: a world where all autistic children and young people experience a positive education that supports wellbeing, as well as highlighting the positive impact of our professional development programmes in the UK.

We’ve created five language versions of our popular Competency Framework for our European colleagues to enjoy.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels to find out more about the Congress and the chosen theme of the hybrid event: “Happy Journey Through Life.”

A Fact That May Surprise You!

Did you know...

To date, we have trained more than 364,852 delegates.

We think you’ll agree that’s some achievement.

Of course, we want to support and train even more of the education workforce, and our work continues.

You can find out more about our industry-leading Autism Training here: https://www.autismeducationtrust.org.uk/autism-training

Thank you to our wonderful network of autism education professionals who work so hard to deliver our award-winning, CPD-approved training programmes across the country.

What’s next...?

Next month, our focus will be on the highly topical and talked about autism and exclusions in education.

It’s an unfortunate fact that this topic is highlighted at this time of year, as transitions to new schools take place and autistic learners’ needs are unmet.

Our upcoming series of exclusions resources is designed to help education professionals who support autistic learners at this key point in the academic year to reduce exclusions by promoting inclusive practice.

The exclusions series will be published on our social media channels.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our whistle-stop reflection on a busy September.

We looking forward to seeing you for another topical round-up next month!
